This project is about the relocation of the City of Buenos Aires Civic Center in an area with existing buildings of historic character that have to be preserved. Moreover, a large area of new buildings has to be added.
The overall idea arises from the use of existing buildings of different styles and sizes as a starting point of the composition the set. Thus, these buildings "impact" on the site as dilute drops in a pond, creating concentric circles and diameters that reflect and represent the size of the surrounded building.
Concentric circles or waves thus formed spread through the site in all directions producing, at their intersections, the footprint of each new building.
In this manner, the new buildings are placed on the ground like sheets following the implementation of the existing forces. The geometry of the new becomes an iconic image that alludes to the character of the whole park.
The ending result involves volumes with curvilinear sides trying to echo each site implantation as well as making the spaces between buildings, fluids.
